Things you Can Make Ahead of Time

There are things you can make the day before Thanksgiving that make your thanksgiving day much easier. It allows you more time to visit with your family and friends, and allows you to relax on your day off! Some of the things I make the day before are:

Pumpkin Pie
Mashed Potatoes
Stuffing
Green Bean Casserole
Sweet Potato Casserole
The Turkey

Yes we make the mashed potatoes the day before. The trick is to make sure when you make them that they are not to thin. Make them thicker, use less milk, then put them in a buttered or sprayed casserole dish and all you have to do on thanksgiving is throw them in the oven to heat up. The same applies for all the other items, except the turkey.

The turkey I usually do the night before. Yes it may be considered a risk, but we do stuff the turkey as well as make an extra pan of stuffing. No one has died yet in our family from food poisoning, so my recommendation is to do what you are comfortable doing. If you want your turkey stuffed, but are nervous about it being stuffed all night. Then get the turkey ready, get your stuffing ready, and just stuff the turkey in the morning before you put it in the oven.
